Theistic anthropology is a God centered study of man. This includes a biblical study of the origin and nature of man, both here on earth and after death. Theistic anthropology is different from secular anthropology. Secular anthropology differs from theistic anthropology in that it does not allow God and his word in study of man, his origin, and nature. Gen. 1v.27 says that God created man and woman in his own image. Man is not a product of evolution or chance but a well designed being bearing the likeness and image of God.
Originally, man was created perfect and innocent, but later man fell into sin. After the fall, suffering came upon mankind, and the belly and jaws of hell, which was created by God and filled with fire to torment Satan and his angels, began to expand as sinful men began to be cast there. Man has sinned and so God sent another man, Jesus Christ, to die in place of God's elect, so that God may use his intercession to save his elect. The man Jesus Christ was created by the God Jesus Christ and placed inside Mary's womb, then God Jesus Christ entered into him permanently, making him the GodMan. God Jesus has no beginning, but the Man Jesus has a beginning like you and me. Jesus is fully God and fully human. The man Jesus has all limitations all other men have. The only difference is that he never sinned like us. The God Jesus is equal to the Father and Holy Ghost in all ways. For example, he knows the day of his second coming, but the Man Jesus does not.
Based on 1 Thess. 5v. 23, man is composed of three parts namely, spirit, soul, and body. Because man is the image and likeness of God, God also has a spirit, soul, and a spiritual body. The form of man’s spirit, the form of his soul, and that of his body are identical. Your soul and spirit look like you! Rev. 6v. 9 says that John saw souls of people in heaven. They looked like people here on earth. They were not clouds floating in the space. God’s spirit, soul, and body have a form like that of man. The angel who wrestled with Jacob was having the likeness of a man. John saw what looked like a man sited on the throne of God in heaven. However, the spirit, soul, and body of God the Holy Ghost do not have a form. He is likened to the wind. Man is finite but God is infinite.
In the beginning, man had only one language, but when man began to unite in disobeying God, God confused his language, and that resulted to many languages. This is based on Gen. 11vv. 7-9. All races come from one man and one woman, Adam and Eve respectively. Man has different cultures. Culture includes things like language, dressing, technology, etc. Culture is not always evil, and so the Bible is not against good cultures. No Christian should try to condemn people based on culture, but sinful cultures must be denounced. All races originate from the original pair, no matter which color they posses. It is believed that the only possibility for one man to produce people of all the colors we have today is if the original pair was black! A black person can produce all the races, including white people, but a white person cannot, so it is believed.
After death, the spirit and soul of a man lives on. In the old Testament, after death, a sinner went to hell and a saint went to paradise, located in hell also. When Jesus resurrected, based on Mat. 27v. 52, saints of the Old Testament were resurrected and taken to the third heaven. In the New Testament, paradise is in the third heaven. Mark 9v. 43 says that in hell there are worms and fire. Worms are cold and fire is hot. People in hell are in torture, but those in heaven are in glory.
