Gen. 1v. 2 says that the Spirit God was hovering (brooding) over the waters. When you see the presence of God hovering or brooding over a certain place, thing, or person, God is about to do something there. The presence of God manifests in many forms, like in the form of a fiery cloud, light, angels, or the likeness of God himself. Deut. 9v. 3 says that God goes ahead of us as a devouring fire. God manifested before Elijah through a strong wind, earthquake, and a still small voice. These are just a few examples of the manifestation of the presence of God.
It is also important to understand what brings about the presence of God. First, the presence of God is brought by the word of God. Jer. 23v. 29 says the word is like fire. When you study the word of God, or meditate on it, and declare it aloud, it brings the presence of God. God acts on his word. When the presence of God brooded over the waters, God spoke and the heavens and the earth and all in them were created. Jesus is the living Word and when he visits as you declare his word, he acts on the declared word. The presence of God is also brought about by prayer. Dan. 9vv. 20-21 says that as Daniel was praying, Gabriel came to him. The angel Gabriel represented the presence of God as he had come to bring God's message to Daniel.
Another thing which brings about the presence of God is preaching. Luke 5v. 17 says that as Jesus was preaching, the power of God was present to heal them. The presence of God is the power of God. Mark 16vv. 15-20 shows that the presence of God is released as one preaches the word of God leading to people believing and speaking in tongues, taking up serpents with their hands, healing the sick, casting out demons, and not being hurt by poison. Jesus confirms his word when you preach it. It releases his power. The presence of God is also brought about by tithes and offerings. 1 Kings 18v. 38 shows how the fire of God came down and consumed Elijah's offering. The presence of God is also brought about by singing based on Acts 16vv. 25-27. Paul and Silas sang and God's presence manifested in the form of an earthquake and loosed their chains and opened the gates of their prison.
Additionally, the presence of God is brought by suffering for Christ Jesus. 2 Cor. 12vv. 9-10 says that the power of God is made perfect in weakness. When God allowed the messengers of Satan to torture Paul, his presence brooded over him. Finally, the presence of God is brought about by doing good to others as well as to the needy and poor. Acts 9vv. 39-42 shows how the presence of God brought resurrection to Dorcas because of the good she did to widows. However, the presence of God is not brought about by dumb idols or similar things based on Exo. 20vv. 4-5 and John 4vv. 21-24. The images used by pagans and Roman Catholics do not represent Yahweh. His presence is brought by his Spirit and messengers, but not by idols and places.
